Remember March 2020, when the world paused, and all of us found ourselves staring at four walls, day after day in silence? No honking traffic, no crowded malls and marketplaces, no weekend getaways: all because of the COVID-19 pandemic. For the first time in many decades, humanity stopped moving, and in that complete stillness, something profound happened.
We started to hear the birds chirping and singing out of our windows. We started to notice the blue sky. We realized how much our lives were running on autopilot, chasing the materialistic things and experiences that we didn’t truly want. We visited places because everyone else did, and called that living.
During those long months of confinement, we:
- Rediscovered silence, first time in many years. We felt what it was like to be away from daily commutes and social obligations.
- Craved nature desperately, be it watching clouds, feeling the wind, or listening to rainfall.
- Questioned everything. Did we get enough family time? Do we need another international vacation? Or, do we need something deeper?
- Learned that connection isn’t about networking, but meaningful interactions and experiences.
As we step into 2026, things have changed enormously. As someone who built Jungle Revives from a passion for India’s wilderness, I watched these realizations unfold in real time through personalized messages from travelers that we serve. The post-pandemic traveller isn’t the same person who just wants to go places, but someone who craves peacefulness for their soul and experiences that truly matter.
The New Travel Mindset That Will Shape Tourism in 2026
Passion led travel, use of technology and AI, regenerative tourism, digital detox, preference to family time, and many such things will define the tourism industry in 2026.
The Rise of Passion Led Travel: From Bucket Lists to Soul Searches
At Jungle Revives, we have witnessed travelers becoming passion-driven rather than checking off their bucket list. More than 75% of our wildlife travelers want trips specifically designed around personal passions, not generic sightseeing. It’s no longer about just visiting Jim Corbett, Ranthambore, Pench, or Bandhavgarh. It’s about understanding tigers, birdwatching in lesser-known habitats, understanding their behavior, and the conservation story. Pre-COVID travelers were peer pressure-driven, while today’s travelers are doing it for an authentic experience.
Digital Detox and Quietcations
Travelers today seek digital detox and quietcations where wi-fi is optional and phone signal fades away. They are tired of forced disconnection from their daily life and want to feel liberated. Be it exploring the remote areas of Jim Corbett National Park at 5 am, or bird-watching near waterholes where there is no phone to distract you. All they want is to engage in activities that demand presence, patience, and alignment with peacefulness rather than notification schedules. This is what we’re designing into Jungle Revives experiences: intentional disconnection that reconnects you with the wild and with yourself.
Preference to Family Time
The COVID pandemic made everyone realize that time with loved ones isn’t guaranteed. We miss birthdays, anniversaries, funerals, and much more due to busy schedules. We watch our aging parents and grandparents over video calls rather than being in person with them. Now, the majority of people travel with families and large groups of family members. In India specifically, people have started to opt for family travel experiences to prioritize real togetherness. Be it opting for multi-generational wildlife safaris or bird-watching experiences, nothing can replace true and authentic moments with family.
Slow Travel: Quality and Experiences over Instagram Moments
Earlier, travellers used to travel to multiple places in short durations. 10 cities in 15 days, 7 wildlife parks in 10 days, and whatnot. Everyone has learned that it’s exhaustive and doesn’t offer true happiness. Instead, people today prefer slow travel where they stay in fewer places for longer durations, engage deeply with communities, appreciate the small things in life like a morning coffee or evening walk, and have unhurried conversations.
The Integration of Technology and Travel Planning
Travellers widely prefer AI to plan their travel trips due to its growing popularity. They use numerous apps that build itineraries in seconds, optimize routes, check weather forecasts, and do much more. They use technology to amplify their travel experience for a more nuanced experience. With the perfect integration of human input, they can share their thoughts and get personalized recommendations in seconds.
The Transformation from Just Traveling to Building Real Experiences
Travellers today no longer seek surface-level experiences. They want depth, a genuine disconnect from busy life, and reconnection with what’s real. They prefer travel for self-transformation rather than just transportation. As with Jungle Revives, travellers want to explore and understand the real importance of nature through unique wildlife experiences crafted only for them.

Shishir Dubey, Founder of Jungle Revives. With more than 15 years of experience in the technology industry, I’ve built my career around innovation, problem-solving, and delivering digital solutions for clients across the globe. But alongside this journey, I always carried a deep passion for wildlife, photography, hospitality, and conservation. My years of exploring India’s forests, including Corbett, Ranthambore, Bandhavgarh, and Panna, taught me the true value of nature, the importance of responsible tourism, and the magic of seeing wildlife through your own eyes. These experiences slowly shaped a new purpose in my life. This passion led to the creation of Jungle Revives, where my technology background meets my love for the wild. Today, I use my on-ground experience and storytelling to help people discover India’s wildlife in an authentic and meaningful way. From planning responsible tiger safaris to sharing real jungle stories that build awareness about conservation. My mission is simple: To help people experience India’s jungles the right way – responsibly, respectfully, and with a deeper connection to nature. Through Jungle Revives, I create immersive wildlife content, guide travelers in planning their safaris, and promote conservation awareness so that more people can understand and appreciate the incredible natural heritage of India.
