13 Leaders Find Their Purpose in Business

Through Reading Reviews

My personal career mission statement is to help humanity reach its full potential, whereas TeamBuilding’s core mission is to help individuals love their work so teams can achieve their maximum potential. While founding the brand, I saw the need for human connection and the possibility of improving the employee experience and growing workplace camaraderie by providing well-crafted team building experiences that redefined the standards and exceeded expectations.

This purpose was affirmed when reviewers started rolling in and customers sincerely expressed how much fun they had in our events and how much closer they felt to their coworkers in the aftermath. Customer testimonials can be a great source of inspiration when searching for purpose in work because these reviews reveal the real-world impact the fruits of your labor have on your clientele.

I Wanted to Create Comfortable and Affordable Dentures

It’s nearly impossible to live a normal, happy life without a full set of strong, healthy teeth. I am proud of making a difference in the lives of our patients, restoring both their smiles and their lives to them. Seeing a full, healthy-looking, and functional smile on a patient, and knowing the confidence they gain from that, is immensely rewarding. What’s better than helping others live life to the fullest?

By Surrounding Myself With Like-Minded Individuals

Finding your purpose in business takes time so enjoy the journey and exercise patience along the way. My rock bottom created the foundation on which I built my business. During times of difficulty and hardship, I learned to lean on other women and created meaningful relationships in the process.

There are many ways to get into the beauty industry, so start somewhere. Before I could create, market and sell my own brand of products and services, I was a lash artist with a vision. With that vision, I was able to build a lash sisterhood of other supportive and successful lash professionals.

I Wanted to Make the RV Experience Accessible to Everyone

I started out in finance, but realized my skills could be put to better use helping people check boxes off their bucket lists. I’ve dedicated myself fully to helping people actualize their vacation dreams through RV travel. Being the literal engine that helps people fulfill their dreams of traveling cross-country is more rewarding than I can explain. Bringing customers happiness through our products and services is what keeps me going every day.

I Realized I Want to Help Marketers

When my daughters went to college, I started a blog. After waffling about my blogging niche, I realized I wanted to help bloggers. Today, I coach marketers. I help people improve content marketing, video marketing, and social media marketing just to name three distinctions between marketing coaching we offer. People soon started asking me to coach them one-on-one which started my consulting business. Partners came on that helped refine our mission statement: We blog for results. Although our business success does not rely on providing an entertaining customer experience, we do provide practical, proven strategies that help marketers.

Through Embedding Social Mission and Purpose in Core Business

In order for our business to truly achieve a socially beneficial and meaningful purpose, we ensured that its key social benefit was at the core of the business and we would achieve this social purpose regardless of profit. For example, our Volunteer Linkup marketplace has at its very core the aim of helping people with disabilities and every transaction goes towards achieving that outcome. Our business of All Accessibility Matters does the same by helping businesses market in an accessible and inclusive way and obtain customers from this very large market sector.

This can be contrasted with any business that purely gives a small percentage of its profits to a nominated charity – new owners can radically alter this purpose and the purpose of the business through the donation of profits can be changed dramatically very quckly by altering the ultimate charity recipient, meaning customers may not trust the purpose and mission.

I Followed My Energy

My initial roles out of college provided no purpose. The businesses I worked for were emotionally disastrous and I dreaded my work. Eventually, I learned to follow my energy. When I was frustrated or anxious, I knew I wasn’t on the right path. But when I found energy, excitement, and wanted to keep working – I knew that I had found my purpose. Following that pattern has led me to many years of loving the work I do.

My Business Fulfills My Need to Create

Being a business owner for me is more than about just making a living, it fulfills my need to create. The business world is about innovation, and the constant effort to adapt to changing demands, and I found it to be the perfect outlet to unleash that side of myself, and create a sense of life satisfaction.

Each creation, whether it be a product or service, I view as another opportunity to move forward, reinforcing my sense of purpose, while at the same time, finding new goals. Seeing the impact of my business on people’s lives is indescribable, and no other endeavor would allow me to obtain that sense of satisfaction and constant motivation.

I Wanted to Unlock the Power of Global Talent

I realized, early on, that there is so much untapped talent in the world. One of the best and most effective ways to access global talent potential is by helping others work for themselves. Making this dream come true for myself and others became the fuel that fires my passion. I didn’t just want to create jobs for other people; I wanted to help them create jobs for themselves! There is great joy in helping people take ownership of their careers and become their own bosses.

A Combination of Self-awareness & Creative Eye for Opportunity

Purpose in business, as in life, is not so much found rather than realized. In order to realize your purpose in business, you need a genuine understanding of two things: who you are as a human being, and how to spot an opportunity in the world around you. When you can achieve knowledge of these two things, then your purpose naturally unfolds as the path ahead. In other words, combining self-awareness and the particular creativity the world is calling for at any given moment will reveal your purpose to you.

I Got to the Core of My “Why”

Of course, every business has its own purpose, but really getting to the core of why you’re doing everything is key to stay driven. At its core, finding out why should line up with your values or beliefs with the company. It should be the reason why your company exists. We found our why by remembering what our reason was for starting up our services. At Dutch, we see pets as an important part of everyone’s family and want every pet to be happy and healthy at the end of the day. That’s why we provide televet services – to treat pets as quickly and efficiently as we possibly can.

Mentorship & Pet Care Align With My Sense of Purpose

From very early on in my career, I found I had a passion for mentoring young employees. I still provide mentorship, professionally and in my personal time, to help young professionals set and hone in on their goals.

Running a pet wellness business also naturally aligns with my sense of purpose by allowing me to make a significant difference in the lives of pets and their parents. I can mentor and guide my teams while feeling fulfilled in the benefit and direction our work provides our members.

I suggest anyone early in their career focus on what makes them feel personally aligned with their work. They may find their passion by way of a mentor, connection, or client in the most unpredictable yet life-changing ways.

I Wanted to Help Individuals Reach their Health and Fitness Goals

I always knew that I wanted to make a difference, give back to the community and help people, but my calling came to me when I realized how I could help people lose weight, get in shape and prioritize their health when I helped my mom lose 80 pounds. I wanted to use technology to make personal training affordable for individuals and help them not only reach their health and fitness goals, but fight obesity.
