What’s the best time to post on LinkedIn?

General Professionals, Wed. at 12 PM and 5-6 PM

I often advise clients on how to effectively use LinkedIn as part of their job search strategy. One important factor is timing—when you post on LinkedIn can have a big impact on your visibility and engagement.

After conducting my research, I've found that the best time to post on LinkedIn for most professionals is on Wednesday at 12 PM and 5-6 PM ET.

During these hours, LinkedIn users are most active and likely to be checking their feeds during their lunch breaks or after work. This may not apply to all industries or geographic regions (i.e., professionals in the financial industry may find that the best time to post is earlier in the day, and those in creative industries may see higher engagement in the evenings).

Generally, for those looking to increase visibility and engagement, posting during the recommended window, including a thumb-stopping hook, engaging description, visuals, relevant hashtags, and tagging other big accounts, can really help.

Speak When Relevant and When Your Audience Is Attentive

Because I reach people in all industries, my best time to post is when I believe I have something important to share and my global target audience is paying attention, considering the time zone differences.

I have no set schedule for the number of times per day or week; it's when I have something relevant and reliable to offer. There, I said it, my contrarian view—I post a weekly blog installment early in the East Coast morning, for my European and African audiences. And I deliberately post new materials, worthy of sharing, all day, as I come across them, and I might even reactivate some morning comments to encourage conversation from my Pacific audiences.

I always end with a call to action for their input to the ensuing discussion, which enriches us all with an international perspective. It's not what the algorithm wants; I say speak to your audience with relevant, reliable material, when they are attentive, and encourage them to offer their perspective back to you and your entourage.

Content Creators, Tues. – Thurs., 9-10 AM

The best time to post on LinkedIn for content creators is Tuesday through Thursday, between 9 AM and 10 AM (AEST). These are the peak hours when people actively scroll through their feeds and engage with content. It also allows you to tap into the North American and European time zones at a suitable time.

On the weekends, you may see some engagement in the morning. However, it is advised to not post during these times, as people are often busy with other activities. Although the timing of posts is essential, people on LinkedIn are there to connect, learn, and grow and most likely create opportunities for their brand or product.

Therefore, your content should be informative, educational, and inspiring. A good mix of content types, such as carousels, videos, images, and relevant hashtags, combined with the above-suggested time to post, will ensure your post has a greater chance of gaining maximum exposure and engagement.

Focus Less on Timing and More on Consistency

I have tested for over two years the best content and time to post. I found that the best time is in the morning. It also depends on your location. But most business owners check their LinkedIn first and consume news on the go, during their commute, and at their desks, to stay updated on the latest trends and news. You can also share fun or entertaining content after 6 PM.

You need to test content formats, topics, and times for at least 90 days to get an accurate measure. Last, focus less on these details and more on being consistent with your content. Marketing is not a science; it's actually a mix of art and science.

American Posters, Tues., Wed., Thurs., 9 AM – 5 PM

If you're trying to reach Corporate America, post during business hours, 9 AM to 5 PM Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. Mondays, people are typically inundated with work requests, and Fridays, folks tend to take off early or are out of the office for a long weekend. Also, remember that business hours are based on time zones. So, if, for example, you live on the West Coast, post before 5 PM ET, which is 2 PM PT.

General Professionals, Same Time Daily, Respond to Comments

You've heard before that consistency is critical to success on LinkedIn, and it's true. Posting at the same time every day with a "what's in it for them" approach is important. More importantly, availability is key. Comment and provide feedback on posts in your feed for roughly half an hour before you post, and respond to comments on your post for an hour and a half after you post. This practice drives increased engagement, new followers, and quality connections.
