How Do You Get Featured on Google News?

Pitch Valuable Content to PR Platforms

Getting featured on Google News can be achieved in several ways. One method is through paying for PR coverage, such as with a sponsored post. Another is to write content for a PR platform, like Featured.com, which is the approach I took.

In the case I’m referring to, I successfully pitched to Go Banking Rates, and the article was featured in Google News, as their content is distributed across various platforms. The key to writing effective pitches is to offer value. If your content aligns with what the outlets are looking for, they will help you get featured on Google News.

Syndicate News via Trusted Platforms

This is often done when your news gets syndicated to trusted press release platforms and then directly onto Google News sites. The best approach I’d recommend for a one-off release is to use a syndication platform like Cision, and also try speaking directly to Google News-approved sites that are happy to accept unique content as a PR submission.

Establish Credibility for Google News

Establishing credibility as a reliable news source is essential. I’ve learned to ensure that my content is backed by authoritative sources and provides proper citations when referencing external information. Google News tends to favor articles from established and trusted publishers.

Build Authoritative Backlinks for Visibility

One effective strategy to get featured on Google News is by building authoritative backlinks. By earning high-quality backlinks from reputable websites, your content gains credibility and enhances the chances of being featured. Engage in outreach efforts to establish relationships with journalists, influencers, and industry leaders who can link to your news content.

Additionally, focus on creating valuable content that naturally attracts backlinks. Regularly monitor your backlink profile and aim to remove any low-quality or spammy links. By prioritizing the development of authoritative backlinks, you can boost your website’s visibility and improve the chances of getting coverage on Google News.
