How Do I Use Evernote for Project Management?

Organize and Collaborate With Helpful Features

When using Evernote for project management, it is important to always make sure you are taking full advantage of the platform’s organizational and collaborative capabilities.

Evernote provides a range of tools to help break down complex tasks into smaller and more manageable chunks, as well as set reminder notifications for yourself or collaborate on projects with other users in your network.

Taking the time to organize your projects using these features will help you stay on top of looming deadlines, offload headaches tied to minor details, and ensure that you capture even the most complicated tasks in simple steps.

Break Down Complex Tasks

One tip for using Evernote for project management is to break projects into smaller tasks that can be tracked and managed more easily. Creating individual notes for each task allows you to stay organized, track progress, and set due dates.

You can also tag related notes so that different tasks associated with a project are easy to find. This way, you clearly understand the project’s structure, and you can complete tasks related to the project on time.

With this technique, Evernote becomes an invaluable tool for managing complex projects.

Leverage the Power of the Search Functionality

One key tip for maximizing the potential of Evernote is to leverage its powerful search functionality to locate notes and information related to specific projects quickly. By using tags and keywords to categorize and organize notes, project managers can streamline their workflows and improve collaboration across teams. The ability to share notes and notebooks within Evernote can help ensure that all team members agree throughout the project lifecycle.

Create Your Own Templates

My top tip for using Evernote for project management is to take advantage of the templates feature. Not only are there tons of different templates to choose from, but you can even make your own.

I’ve found some useful templates on Evernote, like ones for big-picture project planning. However, most things aren’t designed for health professionals, so I’m often having to change templates.

Instead of constantly making changes, Evernote lets me create my own templates so I can keep track of exactly what I want. I can take the things I like about other templates and create a perfect template for me.

Make Sure It’s for Your Eyes Only

As security experts, and with years of experience where Evernotes end up on the Internet – one security tip for using Evernote for project management is to enable two-factor authentication (2FA) on your account.

This adds an extra layer of security to your account by requiring a second form of authentication to login, such as a text message or an authentication app. Enabling 2FA can help prevent unauthorized access to your account and protect sensitive information related to your projects. It’s especially important if you are storing confidential information.

To enable 2FA in Evernote, go to the Security Summary page in your account settings and follow the prompts to set up 2FA using your preferred method. Once enabled, you will be prompted to enter a unique code each time you login from an unrecognized device or location.

By taking this simple step, you can help ensure that your Evernote account remains protected against potential threats.

Establish a Master List

Even if your notebook system is organized, you’ll need a central area to refer to all of your different projects. I’ve included the many contract jobs and freelancing I’m doing on my master list, along with the pay rates for each.

This aids in reminding me of my time management priorities. I’ll also list any urgent tasks here so I don’t forget to complete them. As you can see, there is a link to “Freelance pitches” that leads to a note where I keep track of potential pitches. Instead, it may go to a Trello board, a Google Drive spreadsheet, or some other helpful place.

Rely on Both Convenience and Aesthetics

Keeping your desktop space tidy is crucial for productivity and concentration. Convenience, however, overrides this, and rapid access to documents is often preferred. By providing shortcuts, Evernote is the ultimate solution.

Creating shortcuts with Evernote provides you with single-click access to well-organized and tidy folders and sub-folders.
