One way an international student can get a scholarship in Canada is by applying for the Canadian government-funded Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships (Vanier CGS program.) This program offers scholarships of up to $50,000 per year to researchers who demonstrate both academic excellence and leadership skills. To be eligible for this program, applicants must have completed their undergraduate degree and be nominated by their institution.

Get your school to nominate you for the scholarship in the desired college in Canada. Most of the facilities require that when applying for the program, so without that, you will have limited options. So, after doing your research and distinguishing interesting choices for you, your next step should be contacting your school to find out if they can give you a recommendation. When you receive nominations from your school for the scholarships of your preference, you can then focus on other requirements.

Demonstrate Financial Need

Many international students choose to study in Canada because of the quality of their education and the opportunity to experience a new culture. Scholarships can help make this dream a reality by covering some or all of the costs of tuition and living expenses. While there are many different types of scholarships available, one way for an international student to get a scholarship is by demonstrating financial need.

Documentation such as tax returns, pay stubs, and bank statements may be required in order to prove financial need. In addition, some scholarships specifically for international students may require that applicants have a certain grade point average or that they be enrolled in a specific field of study. Apply to University Canada West’s Scholarships

For overseas students who are interested in applying to the university’s associate, bachelor, and master’s degree programs, University Canada West (UCW) provides a range of scholarships, bursaries, and grants. Prior to the Entrance Award Application deadline, which is at least a month before the start of their term at UCW, international students must submit their scholarship applications.

International students are also limited to only one admission scholarship, grant, or bursary each academic year. Students should provide a personal statement with their application as it is required for the majority of scholarships, bursaries, and awards. The awarding graduating unit will always provide a third of the students’ overall award.

Additionally, OGS requirements prohibit students from holding both an OGS and another government-funded award at the same time and place a lifetime cap on government-funded awards at six years.

Reference or recommendation letters are extremely essential while applying for any scholarship in Canada as an international student. The recommendation letter needs to be tailored to the scholarship for which you’re seeking. It is always preferable that the letter is written on formal letterhead that bears the name of the institution or company. Additionally, the letter becomes more legitimate and appealing to judges by bearing the referee’s signature.
