### Practice Mindfulness Through an Interactive Storybook

For families looking for a healthy gift that is still fun to open and share, I recommend Goom Finds His Happy Place, the picture book I wrote for children ages 4 to 8. I started my first children's entertainment company in Buenos Aires when I was 17, and after more than 25 years teaching children, I still look for gifts that invite children to take part, not just watch.

Goom is entertaining, educational and interactive. Children follow Goom through a difficult feeling and try a simple mindfulness activity along with him. It gives a parent and child an easy reason to read together, talk about what a character is feeling, and practice a quiet moment during a busy season. It is a Christmas gift children can enjoy and return to, while adults have a gentle way to share a useful habit.

### Replenish Nutrients Through Tailored IV Therapy

As a board-certified Nurse Practitioner with over 14 years of clinical experience formulating wellness therapies, my top recommendation for the 2026 holiday season is a tailored IV nutrient therapy session.

Holiday travel and seasonal stress frequently deplete essential micronutrients, leaving people fatigued and run down. Supervised IV vitamin infusions bypass the digestive system to deliver hydration, minerals, and vitamins directly into the bloodstream for rapid cellular replenishment and immune support.

At Loveland Medical Spa, we use these individualized drips to help clients restore natural vitality and optimize overall wellness with zero downtime. Gifting a restorative clinical treatment provides meaningful, immediate physical rejuvenation to start the new year feeling energized.

### Build a Home Yoga Practice

My top pick would have to be a yoga starter kit. With a good mat and strap and block you can get someone started on their journey to create a real home practice and not feel intimidated with gear. I enjoy giving this as a gift because it allows that to happen. You have your mat rolled out somewhere in your room and it's easier to just do that 10 -15 minutes of stretching in the morning instead of thinking about doing it.

Another thing I like about this gift is that it can grow with the individual. You can start off using it to just stretch and learn different movements then down the road you can begin to learn breath work and meditation and many other things. Once you have that space to do these things no matter how little space it may be it can become a habit that you always have the option to do.

### Weigh Portions With a Digital Scale

A digital kitchen scale. It's the kind of thing people rarely buy for themselves, so it lands well as a gift, and it's useful the day it gets unwrapped.

I work on food recognition, and the hardest part of looking at a photo of a meal is the amount on the plate. Naming the dish is the easy bit for a model. A cup of rice and a cup and a half look almost identical from above, and a camera can't feel the difference. A scale gives you the real weight of what you're about to eat, which is the one piece of information a photo can't carry.

That makes it a good fit for anyone who cooks and gets curious about their own portions, whether or not they track anything. Baking gets more consistent too, because scooped cups vary from one person to the next and grams stay put.

I'd pick one with a tare button and a flat surface that wipes clean. A habit tends to stick when it takes almost no effort, and a scale that lives on the counter and turns on with one tap gets used.

### Schedule Weekly Walks With New Shoes

My pick is a good pair of walking shoes, wrapped with a handwritten invitation to a 10-minute walk together on a set day each week.

The holidays are when I hear the most about stress from the people I work with. Calendars fill up, family dynamics get loud, and whatever routines people had in place fall apart. A lot of them tell me they would love to meditate but can't imagine sitting still with everything running through their heads. Walking takes care of that. The steady rhythm of left foot, right foot gives your body something to do while your mind settles down. And 10 minutes is short enough that nobody can honestly say they don't have time.

The invitation matters as much as the shoes. A wellness gift with no plan attached usually ends up in the back of a closet by February. Putting the first walk on the calendar turns it into something that actually happens. It also gives you 10 minutes with someone you care about that isn't built around food or shopping.

I've seen how much a short daily walk can change. One of our users is a nurse who is on her feet all day. Job stress was costing her sleep, and her doctor thought it was feeding her back pain too. She started doing short guided walks, and within a few days she was sleeping soundly. Her back pain eased, and she says she's happier at work.

If the person you're giving this to would like some guidance on those walks, the Walking Meditation app is free and most sessions are about 10 minutes. Download it together before your first walk.

### Protect Skin With Daily Sunscreen

This year I'll be gifting some sunscreen and a note on why I chose it.

Sunscreen is by far my most recommended product. Having practised medicine for 30 years, I can't tell you how many times I've recommended sun protection as the best anti-ageing product! Sunscreen use has been shown to help prevent skin cancer and it's also the best way to prevent environmental ageing (uneven skin tone, sun spots and fine lines). It's not just on the beach that we need to be protecting our skin, it is in our everyday activities (driving to work or taking a lunchtime walk for instance) that we are accumulating UV exposure that will later cause skin changes.

I would recommend choosing a mineral based formula (active ingredient zinc oxide) with at least an SPF 30 as these tend to suit all skin types and can be better tolerated on sensitive skin. You also want a product that you're comfortable wearing day after day as the best sunscreen is the one that you'll actually use! Tinted formulas may also help avoid that tell tale white cast.

If you're gifting this to someone I would include a thoughtful little note so they understand the meaning behind your gift, "take care of yourself" rather than "you need to do something about those lines". "for all those walks we'll be taking next year", get the idea!

You can also consider including a wide brimmed hat and/or pair of UV protective sunglasses for further protection. The skin around the eyes is some of the thinnest and most delicate on our faces so this area also benefits from extra protection.

### Trade Alcohol for Shared Outdoor Time

My recommendation is a gift that does not come in a bottle. The holidays are when alcohol is gifted almost automatically, and in an addiction clinic we see what follows: late December and January are among the hardest weeks for people trying to cut down or stay sober. A bottle of wine is a polite gift for most people, but for someone quietly struggling it can be the first drink of a relapse, and you usually do not know which of your friends that applies to.

The gift I suggest instead is shared time built around movement: a good pair of walking shoes, or a voucher for a class, together with a written promise of a weekly walk together in January. It works on three levels. Regular walking improves mood and sleep, which are exactly what suffer most after the holidays. The commitment to another person makes it far more likely to happen than a solo resolution. And it gives connection, which is the real protection against both low mood and drinking to cope.

If you do want something to drink as a gift, good alcohol-free options are now excellent, and nobody has to explain why they chose them.

### Detect Illness Early Through Preventive Tests

I'm Dr. Jason Schroder, a board-certified anesthesiologist and the co-founder and medical director of Craft Body Scan in Tulsa. One of my favorite stocking stuffers this holiday season? A health screening!

Whether it's an annual physical, a lab test, a screening you've been putting off, or a body scan, encouraging your loved ones to take control of their health can be the most important gift you give them. Talk to your doctor to determine what screenings would be best for you based on your age, health history and risk factors.

Many serious medical conditions (think lung or heart disease) don't cause symptoms until they're pretty advanced, which limits treatment options. Throughout my career, I've cared for many patients with lung and heart disease, and I've seen how much it matters to catch these diseases early, before they've been silently developing for years.

I can't stress enough how important early detection is! So if you're looking for a thoughtful and impactful gift this holiday season, consider getting your loved ones that overdue screening appointment out of the way! Maybe pair it with a fun activity like a walk together afterward or offer to be their driver to sweeten the deal. While it may not be as exciting as the latest tech gadget, it could just buy them more time with you, and that is priceless.

### Track Health Patterns With a Fitness Tracker

One healthy lifestyle gift I recommend this holiday season is a fitness tracker that monitors sleep, activity, and recovery.

After more than 20 years helping patients improve their metabolic health, I've learned that most people underestimate how much sleep, stress, and daily movement affect their blood sugar, energy, and weight.

What I like about fitness trackers is that they make people more aware of their habits. Someone may think they're sleeping eight hours, but their tracker might reveal frequent interruptions or inconsistent sleep patterns. The same goes for daily activity. Many people are surprised by how little they actually move.

I always tell my patients, "You can't improve what you don't measure." A fitness tracker can help people identify patterns, set realistic goals, and stay accountable. While these devices aren't perfect or diagnostic tools, they can be excellent motivators for building healthier habits.

Instead of giving someone another gift they'll forget about in a few weeks, give them something that encourages better health throughout the year.

### Gain Support Through Virtual Fitness Membership

If you want a healthy gift that actually means something, try the virtual small-group training membership. You can do it from home, it focuses on technique, and you're not alone. I work with women dealing with hormonal changes, and a coach who gets your body plus a group that cheers you on makes exercise way less scary. It's not instant. But knowing someone expects you to show up and getting real feedback? That's what makes it stick.

### Choose Transparent-Dose Shilajit Gummies

My pick is a 30-day supplement someone will actually keep taking, and the way to choose one is to read the back of the bottle, not the front. Many supplements lead with a big number that turns out to be a raw-material "equivalent." In October I read the Supplement Facts panels of Amazon's 30 best-selling shilajit products: 20 of the 25 readable panels held less than 500 mg of actual extract, even when the front said 2,000 mg or more.

So my gift pick this year is a shilajit gummy that prints its real dose on the panel. Two gummies a day fit into a morning routine, there's no sticky resin or measuring spoon, and a month's supply costs about as much as a takeout dinner. It suits the person on your list who has been curious about shilajit but would never buy a jar of tar. Whatever brand you choose, flip the bottle and look for the milligrams of extract per serving. If the panel hides it inside a "proprietary blend," pick another one.

Disclosure: I run PowerNutrient, which makes shilajit gummies.

### Prevent Gum Recession With Smart Toothbrush

An electric toothbrush with a pressure sensor is the one gift I'd pick because it fixes the habit for people who brush too hard.

People who come to my practice having receding gums, do actually brush twice a day, but don't realize they're pressing too hard, and it tends to push the gums back over time.

The sensor lights up or buzzes the moment you press too hard, so it trains the habit out of you, without us dentists to keep giving reminders at every visit.

Apart from that, the 2 minute timer gets people brushing for the full time, helping develop a healthy habit, which is a basic oral hygiene necessity.

You don't need the most expensive one, a mid-range brush with a pressure sensor, a timer and soft heads can do this job just as well, presuming the head is replaced every 3 months.

And with the holidays being when sweets are consumed the most, it's a good time to start.

### Send a Farm-Fresh Fruit Crate

Give a crate of seasonal fruit shipped straight from a farm. Not a juicer, not a gadget, not a supplement. Whole fruit.

At 50, I was tired all the time. I changed one thing: if it is not made by Mother Nature, it does not go on my plate. Sixteen years later, I am 67, eating 100% plant-based raw food lifestyle, training for my ninth marathon, with no prescription medication and no chronic disease. I have published 21 years of my own medical records.

A fruit crate is the gift that keeps that rule simple. It arrives ripe, it needs no instructions, and it carries no label because it needs none. Fiber intact, nothing added, nothing taken away.

Most wellness gifts end up in a drawer. Fruit gets eaten.

### Gift Restorative Bodywork Sessions

Running Lang Ocean Spa since 2016, I've watched what actually moves the needle for people's long-term wellness -- and it's rarely what they buy for themselves.

My honest recommendation this season: **gift someone a spa gift card, specifically one that includes bodywork like Thai massage or cupping.** Not because it's what I offer, but because the clients who come in as gifts almost always become the ones who finally *start* a consistent wellness routine. There's something about receiving care that breaks the "I'll do it later" cycle.

The most meaningful feedback I get is from people who came in stressed and stiff from desk work, then came back two weeks later because they finally felt what a body *without* that tension was supposed to feel like. That contrast is the gift -- not just the session.

If you're buying for someone who's always putting themselves last, this is the kind of thing they won't buy themselves. That's exactly why it works.

### Ease Nighttime Wakeups With a Thermal Mask

The gift I'd recommend is something for the nights she wakes up. I'm the founder of Third Hour Sleep, an Australian sleep brand, and I built our bedside ritual after a long run of nights waking around 3 a.m. and often reaching for my phone. Our warming sleep mask is air-activated, so there's nothing to charge, heat or wash. You keep a box beside the bed and reach for a mask instead of the phone, without leaving your bed. It's a quiet, practical gift that's easy to wrap and doesn't need a subscription. That's my personal experience, not medical advice.

### Defeat Cold With a Rechargeable Hand Warmer

My pick is a rechargeable hand warmer. The simplest healthy habit I know for winter is a daily walk outside, and what stops most people in December isn't motivation, it's cold hands. A rechargeable warmer about the size of a deck of cards heats on both sides, slips into a coat pocket and takes that excuse away. It's reusable, so there's no pile of single-use warmer packets by February, and ours doubles as a phone charger for longer walks. It's a small, low-cost gift that nudges someone toward a good habit without feeling like a lecture, the way a gym membership can.

### Record Progress With a Habit Journal

If I had to pick one healthy gift, it's the habit-tracking journal plus a step-and-sleep tracker. I use this working from home, and honestly, seeing my wins on paper, whether I hit my water goal or finally slept eight hours, kept me more consistent than any app. Making progress visible just works when life gets busy.

### Encourage Hydration With an Insulated Bottle

My pick is a really good insulated water bottle, the big, slightly-too-pretty kind someone will actually want to carry around.

Here's why. Most "healthy lifestyle" gifts quietly carry a message: lose this, fix that, try harder in January. A water bottle doesn't. It supports the easiest, least judgmental habit there is, and it works for everyone on your list, whether they run marathons or mostly walk to the fridge. Nobody unwraps it and feels like they've been handed a project.

Working in PR for FastHer, a gentle intermittent fasting app for women, I spend a lot of time thinking about how small, friendly cues beat big resolutions. Hydration comes up constantly, especially for people who fast, because water is one of the few things that doesn't break a fast and it's easy to forget when your usual meal rhythm changes.

A few tips to make the gift land:

\- Choose one that fits a car cup holder and a work bag. A bottle that's annoying to carry ends up in a cupboard.

\- Pair it with something fun rather than "motivational," like a set of quirky stickers or a flavored tea they can use to switch things up.

\- Skip the time-marked "drink by 2pm" bottles unless they ask for one. Some people love them; for others they're one more thing to fail at.

And if the person you're shopping for is curious about fasting, a gentle reminder belongs with the bow: fasting isn't right for everyone, and anyone pregnant, breastfeeding, diabetic or with a history of disordered eating should talk to their doctor first.

### Simplify Period Care With Reusable Underwear

My pick this holiday season is a set of good-quality reusable period pants, something like our Divine Trio at Annahitah. Most of us put up with periods instead of looking after ourselves through them. A gift that makes those days more comfortable says "your wellbeing matters" in a very practical way.

A set of three in different absorbencies covers lighter and heavier days. That means fewer disposable pads and tampons, less last-minute panic buying, and one less thing to think about each month. It's also a gift that keeps working: one set is worn month after month, so it's kinder to the planet as well as to the person wearing it.

I started Annahitah because I wanted period care to feel considered, comfortable and even a little bit beautiful, not just functional. I think that's the heart of a good healthy-lifestyle gift: it builds a small act of self-care into everyday life.

### Create Family Moments With Essential Oils

My pick this year is our Christmas Morning set, because it's built around a family moment rather than any promise about health. It's five small bottles, Peppermint, Cocoa, Coffee, Cinnamon Bun and Christmas Tree, meant for diffusing on Christmas morning while presents are opened and the family is together. They're genuine essential oils and pure blends, not synthetic fragrance oils, and an independent lab tests every oil the company sells for pesticides, synthetics and adulteration. If you give it, point the person to its directions on how much to use and how to stay safe near family. Store the bottles where children can't reach them, and leave a door open so pets can get out of the room, checking with a vet if you're unsure.

### Restore Rest With Evening Gummies

My pick this holiday season is a better evening routine, and the gift I would put under the tree is Saffron Sleep X from APMZEE, the longevity brand I founded. It is a tub of 60 mixed berry gummies at £22 that covers 30 evenings at two a night, made with saffron extract, chamomile and lemon balm plus vitamin B6 and zinc, with no melatonin, no added sugar and nothing animal derived.

I like it as a gift because sleep is the habit most people let slide over the holidays. Late dinners, travel and screens push bedtime around, and the routines that keep people energetic the rest of the year start to slip. A small bedtime ritual, two gummies once the lights go down instead of one more scroll through the phone, is an easy thing to give someone without lecturing them about their health. At APMZEE I treat sleep as one of four pillars alongside action, performance and movement, and when sleep goes the other three tend to follow.

If you are buying for someone who trains hard or wants to stay sharp into their forties and fifties, a gift that looks after the recovery side of their week is one that gets used long after the wrapping paper has gone.

### Revive Muscles With a Sauna Recovery Set

This holiday season, give the gift of feeling good.

My recommendation is the Sauna Recovery Gift Set from ETHOS 528, a thoughtfully curated collection that brings the luxury of a spa experience into an everyday wellness routine.

Inspired by four years of hands-on experience in the sauna industry, this three-step collection includes a Cooling Muscle Rub to refresh tired muscles before the sauna, a Hydrating Charcoal Body Soap to gently cleanse after heat exposure, and a nourishing After Sauna Body Oil to leave skin soft, hydrated, and glowing.

Why it makes a great gift? In a world that rarely slows down, it's an invitation to prioritize recovery, relaxation, and self-care. Perfect for sauna lovers, fitness enthusiasts, and anyone who deserves a little more time for themselves.

### Relieve Back Strain With Ergonomic Gear

This year I'd go with the ergonomic performance package. People who stand all day switch to supportive shoes and add quick stretch breaks, and they stop complaining about their backs within a week. It's not fancy but it adds up. If you're gift shopping, pick things people will actually use daily, not stuff that just looks nice wrapped up.

### Balance Metabolism Through Personalized Nutrition

As a licensed clinical social worker with over two decades in mental health and addiction care, I look at wellness through a whole-person lens of mind, body, and daily habits.

My top recommendation for a healthy lifestyle gift this season is a personalized nutrition program like Metabolic Balance(r).

So many people struggle with emotional eating and extreme dieting that promote shame rather than lasting health. A structured, individualized plan meets people where they are, honoring cultural foods and realistic routines without rigid restrictions.

It provides a sustainable way to balance metabolism, steady mood, and foster a compassionate relationship with nourishment.

### Match Probiotics to Specific Needs

A probiotic that is targeted (one for a particular age group or issue) rather than a general multi-vitamin.

Generic 'Wellness' type gift products will likely be placed on a shelf or thrown into a closet.

The benefit of a symptom-based product will be used daily as an individual has first-hand knowledge of the symptoms they are experiencing.

Symptom-based products show a level of respect compared to a new "wellness" product with no clear benefits that may get set aside by January.

At HappyV, our customers tell us that there is value in having a product their bodies respond to.
